Endocrine Assessments

Endocrine function evaluate the body's ability to regulate itself through hormone action. Tests include evaluations of sex and regulatory hormones (including Human Growth Hormone mediator IGF-l and sex-hormone binding globulin), Estrogen Metabolism Assessment, Bone Resorption Assessment, and a Glucose/Insulin Tolerance Test.

Bone Resorption Assessment
evaluates urine for levels of pyridinium cross-links excreted in parallel with bone resorption. Useful in identifying current rate of bone loss and monitoring the efficacy of bone support therapies.

Glucose/Insulin Tolerance Test
assays blood over a 4-hour period for levels of glucose and insulin, following a glucose challenge. The test provides important information about hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia, and insulin resistance.

Adrenocortex Stress Profile
assays four saliva samples over a 24- hour period for levels of cortisol and DHEA. Imbalances in these hormones are associated with ailments ranging from obesity and chronic fatigue to immune deficiency and increased risk of cardiovascular disease.

Male Hormone Profile
analyzes four saliva samples over a 24-hour period for levels of testosterone. Elevated levels suggest androgen resistance, while decreased levels may result from such causes as hypogonadism, hepatic cirrhosis, lipid abnormalities, and aging.

Comprehensive Male Hormone Profile
includes the Adrenoconex Stress Profile and the Comprehensive Melatonin Profile, in addition to analysis of testosterone (Male Hormone Profile). This advanced profile reveals how testosterone is influenced by cortisol, DHEA, and melatonin.

Female Hormone Profile
analyzes 11 saliva samples over a 28-day period for the levels of "-estradiol, progesterone, and testosterone, providing clues about menstrual irregularities, infertility, endometriosis, breast cancer, and osteoporosis.

Comprehensive Female Hormone Profile
includes the Adrenocortex Stress Profile and the Comprehensive Melatonin Profile, in addition to analysis of hormones included in the Female Hormone Profile. This advanced profile reveals how the sex hormones are influenced by cortisol, DHEA, and melatonin.

Menopause Profile
examines three saliva samples over 5 days to determine levels of "-estradiol, estrone, estriol, progesterone, and testosterone for menopausal women.

Comprehensive Menopause Profile
includes the Adrenoconex Stress Profile and the Comprehensive Melatonin Profile, in addition to the analysis of hormones included in the Menopause Profile. This advanced profile reveals how the sex hormones are influenced by cortisol, DHEA,and melatonin.

Comprehensive Melatonin Profile
analyzes three saliva samples for the secretion pattern of melatonin. Imbalances of melatonin have been associated with Seasonal Affective Disorder, infertility, sleep disorders, and compromised immune function.

Comprehensive Thyroid Assessment
analyzes serum levels ofTSH, free T4, free T3, reverse T3, anti-TG antibodies, and anti-TIC antibodies to assess central and peripheral thyroid function, as well as thyroid autoimmunity.

Women's Hormonal Health Assessment
is a single-sample serum analysis that measures total levels of estrone, estradiol, estriol, testosterone, progesterone, DHEA-S, sex-hormone-binding globulin, 2- hydroxyestrOne, and 16alpha-hydroxyestrone. This comprehensive analysis includes an Estrogen Metabolism Index, a Free Androgen Index, and other ratios. Can be used to design and monitor hormone replacement therapy.

IG F-1 Assay (Insulin-like Growth Factor-lor Somatomedin C)
mediates many of the in vivo cell division and metabolic effects of Growth Hortmone. IGF-1 is a valuable diagnostic tool for the evaluation of suspected Growth Hormone disorders.
